This conference focused on operational and financing issues for private finance schemes and those areas where private finance is expected to grow in the next 12 months. Delegates had the opportunity to explore developments in current policy and issues faced by stakeholders in the use of private finance to deliver public services. The event also put the spotlight on recent NAO publications on private finance and featured specialist sessions on: The Building Schools for the Future and LIFT programmes; The growing waste PFI sector; Operational issues; Financing issues - latest developments in the debt and equity markets. Listen to Edward Leigh MP, Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, talk about procurement: "Private finance contracts entered into are worth a staggering £155 billion up to 2032...an extraordinarily large sum of public money tied up for the next 30 years". "It's essential that we get the tendering for these contracts right", he said.
