Tracey Humphrey, Research Fellow, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Aberdeen
Tracy Humphrey studied for her degree and trained as a midwife at the University of Stirling, Highland Campus. She then moved back to Aberdeen to take up post as a midwife at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital, providing care for women and families in a range of clinical settings. Whilst working as a Midwifery Sister in a Midwifery-led Intrapartum Unit and Labour Ward, she successfully completed her MSc in Midwifery at the University of Aberdeen. With a commitment to improving the quality of midwifery care through evidence-based practice, Tracy was awarded a studentship with the NMAHP Research Training Scheme. Having successfully completed her PhD studies she then became the Consultant Midwife for NHS Grampian in October 2007. As well as being the lead clinical midwife in Grampian, her responsibilities include the local implementation of Keeping Childbirth Natural and Dynamic, conducting primary research/audit and teaching on MSc/Master’s programme at the University of Aberdeen/The Robert Gordon University. Her clinical and research interests include, reducing unnecessary interventions in childbirth and women-centred care.
