Debbie Garrod
Debbie Garrod, Consultant Midwife, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust
Debbie qualified as a Midwife in 1993, following which she worked in four Greater Manchester Trusts in a variety of midwifery roles, all focussed on reducing health inequalities and promoting normal birth.
In July 2002 she took up her role as Consultant Midwife. In addition to providing professional leadership on all Public Health issues within maternity services, she is currently taking the lead on a range of initiatives designed to promote normality. She works closely with the Local Authority, PCT and 3rd sector organisations; the development of Children’s Centres midwifery services is a key area of responsibility.
Debbie has been an NCT antenatal teacher since 1982 and she is currently leading on Stockport’s strategy to involve service users. She has undertaken research into the needs of pregnant women with mental health problems.
