Carole Garrick, Associate Director/Head of Midwifery, Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust

An experienced Supervisor of Midwives, Associate Director and Head of Midwifery Carole has worked in a senior position for over 10 years in acute services for the NHS. In 2003 she went to work in Wales as the Head of Midwifery before returning to the South Coast of England where she currently works for Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust.

During her career she has become an Advisory Faculty Member for ALSO UK, a Clinical Governance Reviewer for CHI, Midwife Advisor with the Healthcare Commission complaints team, a facilitator for LEO (Leading Empowered Organisations), and a member of the UK program board for Midwifery 2020.

Carole has been a member of Gwent/ Southern Ethiopia Link where she started a successful midwifery link both in the acute and community services setting up teaching topics related to maternal health and managing obstetric emergencies.

In 2007 she was elected to serve as a member of the Royal College of Midwives Council and is a member of the Governance Committee and the Professional Policy Committee.
