Bo Hamilton-Cody
Bo Hamilton-Cody, Matron Clinical Governance/Risk Management & Supervisor of Midwives, Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Bo qualified as a nurse in 1987, and went on to qualify as a midwife in 1990. She worked within a local DGH in Surrey for 3 years post registration, undertaking her ADM during this time.
In 1993 Bo moved to work at a central London trust, and worked in both hospital and community midwifery group practice systems, before and after the publication of Changing Childbirth – a stimulating and rewarding experience. For her own personal development, she started a BSc Hons in Health Services Management, which she completed, gaining a 2:1, whilst pregnant with her second child in 2000!
Bo moved to Derbyshire in 1998, to manage a stand alone midwife led unit. During the next 8 years she was pivotal in integrating the service between community midwifery and the MLU, working closely with the Safeguarding Named Nurse to develop a support package for vulnerable women. This was to allow them to have their parenting skills assessed in a safe environment.
Bo was appointed as Supervisor of Midwives to East Midlands LSA in 2004, this role developed her personal philosophy around women centred care and normality in pregnancy.
She has worked in her current role substantively, as Matron Clinical Governance/Risk Management, since Dec 2009.
