Gaynor Wood
Gaynor is a Clinical Practice Facilitator at the Whittington Hospital. This is a position funded by NHS London to improve the outcomes of student midwives in their training and support their mentors.
She first trained as a nurse at the Royal Free Hospital, London and then went on to study Midwifery at the Thames Valley University and Northwick Park Hospital. After qualifying as a midwife she went to Sydney, Australia and was fortunate to work alongside Professor Hannah Dahlen who is speaking at this conference.
Gaynor has worked on and off at the Whittington in a variety of roles, including working with vulnerable families where her interest in Child Protection became apparent. She gained an MSc qualification and her qualitative research was in regard to Child Protection and removing babies at birth. She continues to teach in this area and remain passionate about protecting babies and the vulnerable.
