Shirley Andrews
Shirley Andrews, Chair, Employment Relations and Development Committee
Shirley qualified as midwife in 1998 and subsequently as a midwife sonographer in 2001. For eight years she practiced midwifery and ultrasonography in low and high-risk pregnancies.
Shirley has worked in both large tertiary hospitals and community based settings in Leeds. Her community based work unit was located in a multidisciplinary building, which included midwife-led antenatal and ultrasound services.
Last year she moved to Brighton and now works at Worthing Hospital in the Antenatal DayCare Unit.
Shirley is a strong believer in appropriately combining practice, education and training. She has published articles in a variety of peer-reviewed journals and spoken nationally and internationally.
Shirley was elected to Council in 2007. She is a member of the employment relations committee, the benevolent fund and sit on the editiorial board for the midwives journal.
