Gail Adams
Gail joined UNISON as the Head of Nursing five years ago. She is responsible for negotiating and establishing nursing policy within UNISON, to facilitate this she works closely with the National Nursing Sector. She has a strong commitment to widening participation and has helped to develop many educational opportunities and programmes for UNISON members. She works closely with a range of Governments Departments and the Chief Nursing Officer’s. She is a member of the CNO’s Modernising Nursing Career. She has been active with the Nursing & Midwifery Council, which is responsible for establishing the standards of regulation.
Gail is a member of the Prime Ministers Commission for Nursing & Midwifery. She also sits on the Department of Health Professional Standards Board, which is responsible for all of the health regulators. She is passionate about the development of the nursing family. Healthcare Assistants play a key role in this work.
Prior to taking up post with UNISON Gail worked at St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust, as an education team leader within the acute theatre department.
