Jan Horwath is Professor of Child Welfare at the University of Sheffield. Jan's research interests include the development of assessment policy and practice in relation to children and families; the management of child welfare systems and the impact of child protection work on professionals. She has a particular interest in developing policy and practice regarding child neglect and has worked with government and agencies in Ireland, Western Cape South Africa and New South Wales Australia as well as Local Safeguarding Children Boards in England and Wales. She wrote Child Neglect: Identification and Assessment (2007) London: Palgrave as well as journal publications on this topic.
