Marcus Coulson
Marcus has initiated and led a variety of improvement projects in a large number of fire services, councils and central government departments across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. These include a range of development initiatives for both elected members and officers in all types of authorities.
His work for LG Improvement and Develpoment includes: the role of peer review manager; top team development programmes within the fire service; the negotiation, design and delivery of member development programmes across the country; the design and delivery of executive officer development programmes; organisational change projects with members and officers in councils in Northern Ireland; leading a theme for the Beacons Council
Scheme; the role of assignment manager in failing councils; the design and delivery of Member Peer mentoring projects; facilitation on LGID Leadership Academy programmes; facilitation on Advanced Leadership Programme;
achieving the transformation of public services at senior level by building and
maintaining professional networks with relevant organisations.
These projects are often concerned with the theme of power and leadership. They aim to engage and facilitate the understanding of leadership issues and good practice to improve performance in local government. With a background in psychology Marcus previously worked in education as a manager and lecturer. He has extensive experience facilitating all types of groups in a variety of settings with an MSc in Occupational Psychology and is a member of the British Psychological Society. He is qualified in the
use of Level A & B psychometric tools such as MBTI, 16PF and TMS.
