Roger Tabor
Chair of the IFAC Professional Accountants in Business Committee
Since 2009 Roger has chaired the Professional Accountants in Business Committee of the International Federation of Accountants, to which he was first nominated in 2005, following his retirement. An Oxford MA, with a business masters from Warwick, he took CIPFA’s qualification in mid-career, when already a financial director. He went on to become CIPFA President in 2002-3, and is still active in the Institute.
His 37 year Post Office/ Royal Mail career included seminal work on deregulation, responsibility for the financial planning interface with government and then serving as Finance Director of first Letters and Post Office Counters Ltd. He finally led the major implementation (within the original cost estimate) of new SAP financial systems in the Royal Mail Group. He was also Deputy Chair and later the last Chair of the UK’s Public Health Laboratory Board from 1997 until its demise.
