Deborah Williams became the Chair of IFAC’s new Professional Accountancy Organization Development Committee in January, having been a member of the predecessor Developing Nations Committee since 2004. She is an independent Government and International Development Adviser and has travelled and worked in a wide range of countries. This has included advising the Parliaments of Uganda and Bangladesh, the Presidential Review Commission of South Africa, the Tax Authority in Mozambique, and donors operating in Nigeria.
Deborah is a CIPFA member and spent her early career at the National Audit Office, the Audit Commission and Price Waterhouse, before becoming Financial Adviser to the House of Lords. She has held a number of non-executive roles, including Board member and Chair of the Audit Committee for the Department for Transport. Other board roles have been with major Government programmes, Cranfield University, Kingston Hospital NHS Trust, Newham Healthcare NHS Trust, and a charity providing advocacy services to adults with learning difficulties. She currently provides advice to a range of organisations and major Government programmes.
