Frans Ronsholt
Head of PEFA Secretariat
Frans E. Ronsholt is the Head of the Secretariat for the Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability (PEFA) program; a partnership program of the World Bank, the European Commission, the UK Department for International Development, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Monetary Fund. The PEFA Secretariat is the custodian of the PFM Performance Measurement Framework, responsible for its development, maintenance, application monitoring and global support services.
A Danish citizen, Mr. Ronsholt holds a Master’s Degree in Political Science and Economics from University of Copenhagen, Denmark (1974). He joined the PEFA program in 2004 – and was appointed Head of Secretariat in 2006 - following a career as adviser on public investment planning, financial management and aid effectiveness. Mr. Ronsholt has provided technical assistance, training and evaluation services in those areas through short term assignments in more than twenty countries across Europe, Africa and Asia and spent extended periods during the 1980s and 90s as resident adviser to governments in four African countries.
