Head of Strategic Finance, Suffolk County Council.

Geoff joined Suffolk County Council in July 2006. Geoff is currently the Head of Strategic Finance and Section 151 Officer. Geoff has 35 years experience in local government covering all aspects of the finance function gained across County, Metropolitan and Unitary authorities. Over 20 years of this has been in a Deputy Director or Director role. He has also been a treasurer to a county police authority and a former President of the Society of Municipal Treasurers.

Over his career Geoff has been involved in a wide range of projects including PFI schemes, BSF (until its demise), Strategic Partnerships, Pensions, a Housing Stock Transfer, Housing Renewal projects and a Municipal Airport. Geoff is currently focused on:
• shaping financial and budget strategies to meet the current and medium term challenges his council faces to overcome the big ‘cuts’ in government grant;
• the Council’s (much publicised) New Strategic Direction.
