Keith previously worked as a KS2 teacher and has worked for South Somerset District Council since 1998. As Climate Change Officer, he is responsible for the council's carbon reduction programme, which aims to bring forward projects to reduce carbon emissions from the councils own operations.

Working within the planning policy team, Keith is a consultee for large planning applications to assist enforcement of the council's renewable energy requirement. He assists applicants, businesses and individuals to bring forward installation of renewables. This has included the South Somerset Hydropower Group of mill owners who have played a leading role nationwide in the development of small scale hydropower.
