Jon Brookstein has been Head of Sport Development at BUCS for two years, having established the new department when he joined BUCS in January 2010 from the RFU.

He manages the BUCS relationship with Sport England (who fund the development team) and works closely with them to grow sports participation in Higher Education Institutions across England. A fundamental part of that growth is to develop the capacity of the workforce that deliver sport in HE, especially through developing student coaches, officials and volunteers. Working in partnership with BUCS member institutions and national organisations like Sportscoach UK, Sport Leaders UK and Volunteering England, BUCS Sport Development Team provide a respected voice for HE sport across the workforce and volunteering landscape.
