Professor Michael Rowlinson
Michael Rowlinson is Professor of Organization Studies at the School of Business and Management, Queen Mary, University of London. His research interests are the relationship between business history and organization theory, and he edits the Routledge journal Management & Organizational History. He has worked at a several UK university business schools, including Aston, Nottingham, Royal Holloway, and London Metropolitan.
He joined Queen Mary in 2003 where he led the School of Business and Management up to its first submission in the 2008 RAE. His analysis of journal rankings in business and management in the 2001 RAE, published in the British Journal of Management (2004), led him into the wider debate on whether and how research quality can be measured. He is a co-editor of the widely used Association of Business Schools Academic Journal Quality Guide, now in its fourth version (Harvey, Kelly, Morris & Rowlinson, 2010).
