Paul Hendy
Paul Hendy has spent a life time working in the voluntary sector. In 2005, he directed the Carlisle voluntary sector flood recovery programme this programme met the ongoing practical and emotional needs of flood victims. He also conducted on-going research into the effects of incident trauma on flood victims – which still continues.
Following flooding in Yorkshire and Humberside in 2007, Morpeth 2008, Cornwall 2009, Paul worked directly with key agencies and authorities in flood recovery. His work involved community recovery plans, mediation and resolution of many insurance claim difficulties and property restoration issues.
His current role, funded by the Scottish Government, as Director for the Scottish Flood Forum requires wide-ranging partnership and engagement with Local Authorities, SEPA and many other agencies in developing flood recovery programmes and together with a staff of two developing community flood resilience groups, community emergency and home flood plans.
