Speaker Biography

Professor Eleanor Shaw

Eleanor is Head of the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship at Strathclyde Business School. Eleanor is an experienced entrepreneurship researcher and educator with more than 25 years of working with SMEs including high-growth firms.

Her research interests focus on entrepreneurial capital, entrepreneurial philanthropy, women's' access to entrepreneurial finance and social entrepreneurship. Eleanor's research has been published in leading journals including; British Journal of Management, Business History, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, European Journal of Marketing and International Small Business Journal.

Eleanor has been Principal and Co-Investigator of ESRC and EPSRC projects and is currently involved in an ESRC Seminar Series, 'Philanthropy to the Rescue? Exploring the opportunities, strengths and challenges of philanthropy'.

Eleanor sits on Foundation Scotland's Innovation and Impact advisory group and reviews for the ESRC, the Academy of Finland and the Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland. Eleanor is passionate about engaging in research which can generate broader societal benefits and, as a researcher, is committed to providing evidence based research and the design and delivery of high impact learning experiences for learners at all levels including executive and business owner clients.
