Dr John Craig
John Craig is Senior Director (Education and Research) at the Higher Education Academy. In this role, he is responsible for projects supporting institutional change (such as HEA Strategic Enhancement Programmes), as well as support for disciplinary pedagogy and the HEA’s research programme.
Having completed a PhD at the University of Leeds, John taught at the University of Huddersfield and served as an Assistant Dean at Teesside University, before joining the HEA in 2011 as Head of Social Sciences. John is an active researcher and his work has appeared in books and journals including the Annals of Public and Co-operative Economy, European Political Science, Higher Education Management and Policy, Journal of Further and Higher Education, Journal of Modern African Studies, and Review of African Political Economy. He is currently working on patterns of citation in journal articles on teaching and learning.
John is a National Teaching Fellowship and chairs the Political Studies Association Teaching and Learning Specialist Group. He has served as an external examiner at seven universities in the UK and abroad. He is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Political Science Education and a member of International Advisory Committee, Consortium for Inter-Campus SoTL Research. John continues to teach and is an Associate Lecturer at the Open University.
