Professor Rensburg has been vice-chancellor and principal of the University of Johannesburg since 2006, prior to which he held a variety of prestigious posts including chief executive of the South African Broadcasting Corporation, deputy director-general of the country’s Department of Education and general secretary of the National Education Crisis Committee.
