Having graduated from the Moscow Engineering and Physics Institute in 1974, Mikhail Strikhanov became a lecturer, then professor, then vice-rector there, eventually becoming rec tor in 2007. From 1998 to 2007, he held senior positions in the Russian Federation’s Ministry of Sciences and Education.
