Professor Clammer has previously worked at a number of universities and research institutions in the UK, Singapore, Japan and Australia. His research involves a dialogue between Western social theory and the realities of Asian societies, mostly in the context of Japan and Southeast Asia. He has a PhD in social anthropology from the University of Oxford.
