Dr Matthew Wyman
Matthew Wyman is Senior Teaching Fellow in Politics and Student Development Manager at Keele University. His recent responsibilities have included helping to restructure the Keele undergraduate degree substantially to increase amount of breadth, flexibility and student choice; and developing a new approach to student employability through authoring and helping embed a graduate attributes policy for Keele. He has also developed and delivered training programmes for student academic representatives, as well as teaching designed to embed the development of personal and professional skills for politics students.
His background studying centrally planned political systems gives him a distinctive perspective on the problems that distorting incentive structures cause for complex organisations such as universities. He describes his mission in university teaching as trying to rebalance curricula, so that as well as intellectual development, due attention is paid to social, emotional and spiritual factors and to developing student capacity for community action.
