John Rogers
John Rogers has been the Chief Executive of Skills for Health since its establishment in April 2002. Skills for Health (SfH) is the UK Sector Skills Council for Health, covering some 2 million staff across the public, independent and voluntary sectors.
John was Chief Executive of Healthwork UK (the National Training Organisation for Health) between 2000 and 2002. He has worked in the health sector for the last 20 years, during which time he has been involved in national workforce development – as a Director at the NHS Training Authority and at a national level with the Department of Health. In earlier years, John worked with the private manufacturing sector on national workforce development. He led innovative work on competence-based development in the 1980s, including new approaches to workplace assessment and the development of vocational awards achieved through workplace development.
John is a well-known figure across workforce development in the UK, is a member of a range of national boards, and chairs the UK-wide Alliance of Sector Skills Councils.
