Programme Director, Carers Direct

A qualified social worker, Shane has worked as a policy, strategic and operational manager in central and local government and within the health service. His work has focused upon the needs of adults who experience disability and/or social disadvantage.

For the last four years Shane has worked within the Department of Health in England developing support for carers. Shane’s key responsibilities have been the planning and implementation of Carers Direct - the national information and advice service for carers, and the Caring with Confidence training programme for carers.
