Charlotte Sweeney
Head of Diversity and Inclusion, Nomura International
Charlotte joined Nomura International PLC in April 2009 as Head of Diversity and Inclusion, EMEA, and was brought in to develop and implement Nomura’s first Diversity and Inclusion strategy and embed into the culture of the firm.
Before Nomura, she joined HBOS plc as Head of Diversity in 2005 and developed the first group wide diversity strategy, including regular diversity reporting within business planning and developing the Diversity Steering Group chaired by the CEO. Towards the end of 2007 her remit was expanded to include health and wellbeing and introduced the first corporate health risk assessment for all colleagues.
Prior to this role she held a number of roles at Barclays PLC specialising in diversity, culture change and executive coaching. She won a number of awards including the Personnel Today DWP Age Positive at Work Award.
Charlotte joined Barclays PLC in October 1989 and held a number of front office and strategic planning roles.
She is a Non-Executive Director for a number of not for profit organizations and sits on a number of Executive Steering Groups. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and holds a number of professional qualifications in psychology, change leadership and programme management. She works closely with the Commission for Equality and Human Rights and speaks at a number of MBA courses specifically on cultural change, diversity and inclusion and business impact.
Charlotte writes for a number of professional publications globally and presents at both national and international conferences.
