John Stone is currently Chief Executive of the Learning and Skills Network, one of two organisations formed from the former Learning and Skills Development Agency when the Quality Improvement Agency was formed in April 2006.

At LSN he leads an organisation which supports excellence in Learning and Skills. It does this through delivering quality improvement and staff development programmes that support specific government initiatives, through research, training and consultancy; and by supplying services directly to schools, colleges and training organisations. He is a governor at the City Lit and Board Member at the Scottish Further Education Unit.

Prior to this appointment John was Principal of Ealing, Hammersmith and West London. He was also Vice-Chairman of JISC, Chair of the Association of Colleges London Region, a Board Observer at the London Development Agency and a Board member of West London Business, Regenesis and the Southall Regeneration Partnership.
