Wendy Herbert
Wendy Herbert has recently been appointed as the Head of Nursing for Children and Specialist Community Public Health Nursing for Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. She is currently the Vice Chair of the working group for WAG reviewing public health within community nursing and reviewing the role of Health Visiting services across Wales, she is also an active member of the All Wales Advisory Forum for SCPHN.
She completed her nurse training in 1991 and was employed as a staff nurse within Trauma and Orthopaedics and the Accident and Emergency Dept before successfully completing her Health Visiting training in 1996. She worked in many settings in deprived and vulnerable communities and was the first Health Visitor in Wales to work with young offenders.
In 2003 she went into her first management post managing all types of community nursing services and in 2006 became Head of Health Visiting and Community Children’s Nursing.
In her spare time Wendy is currently studying for her Masters in Professional Development with an emphasis on clinical leadership in the NHS.
