Angela Dierks, Head of My Birkbeck Student Services, Birkbeck, University of London

Angela has been working at different HEIs since 1991, including King’s College London, the Open University, City University and London Metropolitan University and in a variety of roles, including lecturing and management.

As Head of My Birkbeck Student Services she is responsible for coordinating and communicating an integrated, seamless gateway to student support services at the College from first point of enquiry to graduation. As part of the College’s retention strategy she focuses in particular on the transition of first year undergraduate students into HE.

In a previous role Angela worked as Departmental Coordination Manager in a Department of Student Services, contributing to strategic planning as well as running the operational business of the seven services that constitute Student Services at London Met.

In the early 90s she taught linguist and non-linguist undergraduate and postgraduate degree students, supported students as an online tutor, set up academic learning support services and worked as a consultant writer.
