David Way
David is currently the Chief Operating Officer of the National Apprenticeship Service which is housed within the Skills Funding Agency. The NAS is responsible for increasing the number of Apprenticeships available in this country and for ensuring that more businesses and people benefit from employing Apprentices. Previously David had been overseeing the creation of the National Apprenticeship Service for the Learning and Skills Council. David spent nearly four years heading up the Skills Group at the LSC as their National Director of Skills. His focus was on delivering the Government’s skills strategy. This included the flagship service for employers Train to Gain, Apprenticeships and the introduction of National Skills Academies.
David has considerable regional experience, having worked in London, the South East, South West and West Midlands, as well as in Wales. David was a member of the West Midlands Business Council and the Regional Assembly. His experiences within the education sector are not limited to Further Education and training. He has also been a Governor of both the University of Wolverhampton and a Warwickshire primary school.
