HE-FE provision is a growing and increasingly diverse sector, presenting key growth opportunities for institutions against the backdrop of the Training and Education Act and the Leitch skills agenda. Currently HE in FE Colleges accounts for over 10% of all HE provision, and FE-HE Collaboration now forms an essential part of the strategy of all colleges and universities planning for change over the next 5-10 years. This national conference examined the latest information on strategies to increase collaboration and encourage providers to adopt a more strategic approach to ensure provision is high quality, delivered in an appropriate environment, and facilitates student progression. Speakers included: John Widdowson, Chair of the Mixed Economy Group and Principal, New College Durham; Professor Deian Hopkin, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of London South Bank University; Caroline Neville, Regional Director for the East of England, Learning and Skills Council; and the Rt. Hon. Charles Clarke MP, Former Secretary of State for Education and Skills.
