PURPOSE OF THE CONFERENCE * Review the progress made since the original Barker Review of Housing Supply in March 2004 and the challenges that lay ahead in meeting future housing demand * Hear government plans to address housing need including recommendations from the Cross-cutting Review into Supporting Housing Growth, as well as priorities for CSR07 * Discuss plans for achieving Zero Carbon Homes by 2016 and identify the incentives for increasing uptake of more sustainable homes such as Stamp Duty Exemption * Consider the implications and effective use of the Planning Gain Supplement (PGS) including how local authorities and communities can benefit from housing development * Look at innovative approaches to affordable homes and low cost home ownership assistance including the role of housing associations and Registered Social Landlords * Consider how the appropriate social, physical and environmental infrastructure required to support housing growth will be delivered and finanaced * Consider the role for developers as drivers in creating a more flexible housing market and their capacity to deliver quality sustainable homes
