Each team has to produce an action plan for community engagement in the development phase of Dewsbury Country Park, with the aim of putting the Country Park at the heart of the community.

The development of a Country Park in Dewsbury offers the opportunity to benefit the local community through increased amenity and outdoor recreation provision. However, some in those communities have a narrow experience in using the outdoor environment in a positive way. There is a real need to demonstrate the benefits that the local environment offers and its relevance to health and well-being within the community.

Kirklees Council lead this project in partnership with the Environment Agency, Natural England, Forestry Commission and other voluntary sector organisations.
